TEACHERS’ MEETING IN PORTUGAL/h2>

This year, Connecting Worlds wants to support teachers participating in the project in the implementation of Global Competence promoted since 2018 by the OECD through its PISA program, with the purpose of developing the capacity of students to:

  • Live harmoniously in multicultural communities.
  • Thrive in a changing labour market.
  • Use media platforms effectively and responsibly.
  • Uphold the Sustainable Development Goals.

In order to face this challenge, the Connecting Worlds’ project offers this support with the objective of facilitating teachers’ development and assessment of students’ global capacities:

  1. Teachers’ Training: a 20-hour online training course on Global Competence and on this year’s subject: Sustainable Growth (+ 5 optional hours to obtain an official certificate in Portugal and Italy).
  2. Education Proposal: online contents and activities to work on with students in the classroom and to share with other students participating in Connecting Worlds. Teaching guides are also provided to help guide the development of the activities.
  3. Global Competence assessment tools: to assess students’ development of this competence during Connecting Worlds.
  4. Teachers’ Meeting in Portugal: to exchange ideas and share experiences among teachers.

TEACHERS’ MEETING IN PORTUGAL

The Teachers’ Meeting will take place between July 13–19 in Lisbon, and will be fully financed by the EU. During the meeting, teachers will have the opportunity to get to know other teachers from Portugal, Italy and Spain, and to share their classroom experiences. In addition, teachers will also be able to participate in the creation of a manual on good practices, to be jointly written by the people participating in the meeting.

Being eligible to participate in the Teachers’ Meeting requires having fully participated in the Connecting Worlds project, i.e.:

  1. Carrying out the teachers’ training module.
  2. Participating and developing the activities of all 5 phases included in the education proposal corresponding to the students’ age range.
  3. Working with the assessment tools proposed.
  4. Once the activity with students is over, sharing the education proposal through an article, a video or something similar and uploading it onto the Connecting Worlds blog.

Teachers who meet these requirements will enter the selection stage.

These activities – that are an extension of the Connecting Worlds project – are made possible thanks to European Union funding, specifically through its ERASMUS + program.
